Hi ya everyone!
This week at Tiddly Inks the challenge is to create an art journal page...don't art journal? Then just be creative with a canvas or sheet of paper and include a Tiddly Ink! I decided to go all out and finally cracked open my new moleskin journal. I colored up this sweet new image called Little Miss Sunshine. I covered the sheets in white Gesso then used some new fun sprays I got at my Local Scrap Store. It's hard to see in the pic but the sprays are so glittery and beautiful!
Next, I added a Tim Holtz stamp all over with clear embossing ink and then added some UTEE over the top and embossed with my heat gun. I might not recommend this in an art journal by the way - it might cause the Gesso or other pages to become ruined - although it worked ok for me. I then used a stencil for the flowers from some flowers I cut on my Imagine. I used Tim Holtz Distress inks for the color and then a black sharpie over it all. Join our fun challenge this week and be as creative as you'd like! Make sure to pick up a Tiddly Ink image first!

NO WAY is this your first art journal page?!? Melissa, you totally rocked it. She is so stinkin' cute, and the colors are fabulous. I know what you mean about the sprays - I have some of those Smooch Spritzes and it's hard to get a good pic that shows how gorgeous they are.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! :)
AWESOME! and first attempt! you are so talented it amazes me. TFS
ReplyDeleteThis looked great! I've embossed over gesso before and it worked out fine. I just wouldn't emboss over regular acrylic paint or oil pastels of anykind... that might be a mess, lol.
ReplyDeleteI really need to get some glitter sprays... they would be gorgeous in a journal! LOVE this!!
I ADORE IT! Hurray, it's so fab. Your image looks more like your own doodle then Chrisy's, she is a perfect match for the flowers. You scattered your swirls and dots around the page so expertly. There is a real flow from one side of the page to the other.
ReplyDeleteI also got a real giggle over the smiley mouth under the sentiment - tres fun.
Very lovely page Melissa! Love how you coloured the girl and the white embossing is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Larissa
Super cute! Love that embossing and the flowers are just adorable with sweet little Miss Sunshine. I would NEVER in a million years have thought this was your first page! Fabulous! xxD
ReplyDeleteHow adorable is this?!? It looks like Jill. Well, on a good hair day. Her hair is super curly like this. I asked her if you had gotten ahold of one of her pictures or something, turned the screen so she could see and she just cracked up and said... only on a good day. Hee! Hee!
ReplyDeleteHi, Melissa! Your page is so much fun, it made me smile as soon as I laid eyes on it! I love the bright colors and that fabulous sentiment/journaling. Hmmm...do I see more art journal pages in your future...LOL! I think so, 'cuz you're a natural ;D Hugz, Cheryl
ReplyDeleteawwww this is just so cute!!! You did an amazing job on this wonderful page. I can't believe it is your first...you are a natural :)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful is this! I love the water color look over white embossing and your colors are just divine! Just a great page Melissa!
ReplyDeleteOh Melissa - this is just what I needed to make me smile!! This is so gorgeously bright, cheery and happy!!! For your first attempt I think you knocked this out of the park!! Loving that Tim Holtz stamp (I may have just bought the same one!! lol!) Love the flowers and the Gesso is such a great idea. I've heard that it's a must when art journaling! So lovely my friend!!
