Thinking Pink and celebrating LIFE!

Hi ya everyone!
Typically, I share only creations on my blog and occasionally I share personal information but not too much as really this blog is about my cards, layouts and crafts.  This card however, is dedicated to a very special aunt in my life.  My sweet Aunt Jane is a breast cancer survivor and recently had a small scare that showed her cancer was back.  It was luckily caught early and surgery removed the cancerous portions and she got a clean bill of health.  I'm so thankful that my aunt takes good care of herself and has regular check-ups to keep herself healthy.
I created this card with her in mind, because I'm happy to be able to celebrate her life.  She truly is the best aunt that anyone could ask for.  I have so many blessings in my life but mostly my wonderful family.  Here's to you Aunt Jane - (((HUGS)))
This is a new image from Some Odd Girl called Pink Ribbon Mae.  You could really use her for all sorts of causes but with this being Awareness month I thought it appropriately colored in pink!

Father and Daughter Layout

Hi ya everyone,
Lately, I've been missing layouts.  I used to love to scrapbook with my photos, but card making took over and I hadn't done a layout in so long.  The large format became intimidating.  However, I've been so inspired by others that do scrapbook that I just had to try this.  My Mind's Eye, one of my favorite paper companies, also has a new September challenge currently and so I thought I'd join in.  All my papers and most of my embellishments are from My Mind's Eye collections.  They are mixed and matched from Out and About, The Sweetest Thing and the Lost and Found collection.

Snowy Days are COMING!!!

Hi ya everyone,
I am ready for COOL fall weather...maybe not winter weather, but definilty cooler.  See, I live in Portland, OR.  It's supposed to be rainy and cool, or at least it has been this time of year since I moved here five years ago.  However, it's HOT and I mean stinking hot!  Everything has turned brown and the next few days are to be 90+ once again...BOO.  Thank the Lord above that Kristy from Some Odd Girl is thinking cooler and has just released a number of cute digital images just in time for the upcoming holidays!
Meet the Tobies!  Aww, aren't they super cute - it's hard to find really adorable boy images but these are sitting right on over at Some Odd Girl

Warms my Heart

It's Tiddly Tuesday and we are back with a fun and inspiring new challenge!  For the next two weeks we'd like you to be inspired by our fabulous design team member Asa.  My creation was made based on her sketch from the card you are to use (can be found on this week's challenge post).  Head over to the Tiddly Inks Challenge blog to check it out!
I had a lot of fun coloring this sweet and adorable Tiddly Ink image called Donna.  I used some of my Copic skills to color the water puddle and background.  That was a lot of fun and got me out of my normal comfort zone!
Happy Tiddly Tuesday!

Gingerbread Fun with Some Odd Girl

Hi ya everyone!
Well, there is an ADORABLE new clear release this week at Some Odd Girl and unfortunately, I lost my mojo just in time :D  I love this image she is super cute, but I am NOT loving my creation today.  Typically, I'd create something new but really didn't have time.  I think my craftiness is slowly returning, but it's taken a number of weeks.  I love this image and she was so much fun to color and I rather love how she turned out...but my papers and layout aren't me at all.  So, what you must do is check out the rest of the AMAZING design team at Some Odd Girl to be totally inspired!

Sky Inspiration at MarkerPop

Hi ya everyone!
Well today is a first here on Melissa Made.  I've never created anything using a Magnolia stamp.  Today I did, introducing Baby Edwin!  I received this little cutie in my design team package from MarkerPop and since we are featuring Magnolia this week on the MarkerPop blog I thought I would use him.  The inspiration for the week is to create a sky with clouds.  This is the first time I've drawn clouds myself, and the affect is pretty cute, and I'll be doing it more often I think!  Check out all the sky inspiration on the blog today!

Join us tomorrow at the MarkerPop blog for a small tutorial I'm sharing on how to create a fun and easy whimsical background!

A little vacation and a new challenge!

Hi ya everyone!
Sorry for my absence the past week or so...I was on a wonderful camping vacation with family.  We had a rough start however with a bit of a breakdown.

But we arrived to our site a day late but had so much fun.

Now, back to the card above using Photo Kaylee from Some Odd Girl.  We are starting a new sketch for the month and it really is a gorgeous one.  You'll have to the Odd Girl blog to see it and all the WONDERFUL inspiration from the design team...truly it's amazing what everyone did!
