Hi ya everyone,
Today I have a special card to share with you. My hubby is turning 33 - I think that's right - LOL. He's younger than me...so I like to forget just how young he is! Anyhow, this week at the Tiddly Inks Challenge blog we are having a Monochromatic challenge. This sort of challenge always makes me a bit nervous - as I struggle with papers that are all in the same hue/family. But, I think I pulled it off this week because it totally came from the heart.
Hubby was and is an avid video gamer. Our relationship works great because we both have hobbies that we thoroughly enjoy. I get to craft in the evening when the girls are in bed and hubby gets to enjoy his games. I LOVE the fact that he likes the really good games that have great story lines. These are my favorites to watch and cheer him on with. Many of them have wonderful puzzles that you have to solve too and I'm often saying try this or do that! I've also a many time been inspired by his games. Some are absolutely GORGEOUS. Here's a link with a little sneak peek of one of my favorite games that he's played - at least artistically.
Gorgeous right? It's a game with a lot of calligraphy style art and I LOVE it.
Ok, on to the card then...I colored this adorable image that Christy from Tiddly Inks drew called Gamer. I can just imagine my husband as a child playing video games with his head tilted to the side - much like this image (actually I can still see him in this position today!)
The image was colored in all E50's and E30's. My papers were a combo of sets mostly those purchased around Fall from Michaels. I made my own tag on the cricut. I inked it with my Tim Holtz antique linen and a touch of Walnut Stain and then proceeded to stamp a number of Happy Birthday sentiments with random rubber stamps (I have a lot of different Happy Birthday ones)
I added some ribbons that match and also added a bit of burlap type fiber. Lastly, I added a few buttons. I think I pulled off a masculine birthday card and I hope it means so much to hubby!
Please join us over at Tiddly Inks Challenge for this weeks Monochromatic theme. Don't forget to stop by the store to see what's new and our old favorites. You have to use a Tiddly Image to qualify for prizes and why not there are a TON of freebies here.
Happy Birthday Love of my Life!
And a NEW RELEASE!!! NEW GREAT IMAGES now at the Tiddly Inks Store!

Melissa, your card is absolutely adorable. As I read the inspiration behind it I could not help but tear up a little bit. The part that got me was when you said you could picture your husband as a little boy, I think that is so sweet. Gosh, I am such a sap. Love the coloring of the image on this one, it's different! I HAVE to get me some of that ribbon. I am sure your husband will cherish this card forever, hope you all had a wonderful birthday celebration.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Stephanie
