Krafting it Up - Tiddly Inks Challenge

Hi ya everyone!!
This week at the Tiddly Inks challenge blog we are asking you to use Kraft paper on your projects.  Ok, so I'm always up for a challenge...but this KRAFT paper is not easy to work with.  I didn't try my Copics on it because it's really rough (and I didn't want to ruin my nubs)...I tried colored pencils but just wasn't happy with the result (didn't blend well)...so I switched over to my Tim Holtz inks and painted with them.  That worked fairly well - but I don't know about the result.  I like the white with my stamps because I LOVE when my image pops and I feel like with the brown Kraft paper - it just didn't happen.  Now, I think I would love it more if my image wasn't on the Kraft paper itself...now, why didn't I think of that before!!! LOL
Once I inked this ever so sweet Tiddly image called Big Wishes Lilly Bean up I cut her and stitched her to some blue paper from my new Nana's Kitchen DCWV stack.  I also stitched another sheet of DCWV paper to blue paper and mounted everything on more Kraft paper.
I added some pink crinkle ribbon and a button.  I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment and added some stickles.  Please join our challenge at Tiddly Inks - make sure to use a Tiddly image which can be found right HERE!

  5. Melissa, I actually love how your image looks on the kraft paper. The colors are so soft and muted and I think it's really pretty. OK, I know it's not your usual bright and cheery look but it still looks fantastic! Beautiful papers and ribbon too.

  7. I love the look of coloring on kraft but it definitely is different and less vibrant. I think this is adorable. The sparkle is heavenly! xxD

  9. Fabulous card Melissa. You are so right about the kraft, it was really hard. My solution was that I didn't blend my pencils with OMS. The effect of the distress inks is fabulous and I love all the glitter. The stitching is gorgeous.

    Larissa
