For the Love of DOODLE

Just a little something different today for fun.  I wanted to watercolor a gorgeous background and then I wasn't sure what to do with it.  I decided to just have a bit of fun and sat down and doodled.  Do you like to doodle?  I do, on the phone or watching TV I like to just draw.  I'm not great at drawing, but I do like a fun doodle.  So I took a bic flair pen and went to town!

Repeated a number of the doodles and also just added dots to fill some space.  When I was done I added a bit of Copic Opaque White and then a LOVE die-cut from Lawn Fawn.  That's it.  Simple and fun.  I hope you enjoyed and will give doodling a chance too!

Snow Fun - Whimsy Stamps and VersaMagic fun

Hi ya everyone!  Today, I have a simple yet fun card using my Whimsy stamp set called Penguin Winter Adventures.  I used my VersaMagic inks from Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko to create the fun striped background with The Crafter's Workshop stencil called Weekly Circles.  I created a video for you too.  I also colored the little penguins in Copics.  I love how the chalky inks blend so nicely!  I get no harsh edges with the VersaMagic either.  I simply create and let the ink dry!

Look how gorgeous the colors are and how easy it is to match your inks with your markers!  I love when I can match multiple projects that are not from he same manufacturer.  Take a look at my video and see how I lay out my VersaMagic inks to make it easy to make my Copic Markers to each color.

I used LawnFawns Stitched Circles to cut the circle.  I hope you enjoyed this fun little video and are inspired to create your own project.  Don't forget to join us at Whimsy Stamps on November 1st for the new release!

You Keep Me

Hi ya everyone!  Today, I'm sharing a quick and simple card I made using the adorable Knit Wit stamp set from SugarPea Designs.  I believe the set is out of stock, but might be back in soon.  Anyhow, I chose my papers, the background is paper from the LawnFawn paper pad called Knit Picky.  The front is a basic blue card stock.

I used a chalk bag on the blue card stock and then added VersaMark ink and white embossed the stamp and sentiment.  Finally, I added these adorable blue sparkly enamel dots from Whimsy Stamps called Winter Wishes that matched my paper beautifully.

I love making simple cards like this.  It was quick and still beautiful for a friend or spouse.

Sparkle the Elf - Whimsy

Hi ya everyone!  Today, I took a bit of a risk with this card.  I colored up this adorable Whimsy Stamps called Christmas Elf by the talented Crissy Armstrong...and if you color, you know that once you have an image you like, you don't want to do anything to mess it up.

And he's cute, am I right?  I love him...then I decided to sketch out a tree to put next to him.  I don't know, I think if I played with it some more, added more depth and more some darker greens, I would like it more.

I went ahead and added a bit of a snowy background and some clouds in the sky. In addition, I used the Sparkle sentiment from Whimsy dies called, Wonderland die set.  I love these sentiments, they are easy to pop on and look so cute with the elf.  More plaid paper too :)  I promise next week will have a few cards without plaid.

Happy Howl-o-ween - SugarPea Designs

Hi ya everyone!
Today I'm sharing a Halloween creation using these cuties from SugarPea Designs.  I love this set, Monster Mash with matching dies that includes all the characters you see above, the sentiment and much more.  The pumpkins came from another SugarPea Designs set called Fall Fox.

I used the no lines coloring technique in which I stamped the images on XPress It paper with Angel Pink Memento ink.  The hills were cut with Stitched Hillside borders from Lawn Fawn.  The background web paper was from Echo Park called the Apothecary Emporium.  I inked the paper with Black Soot and Faded Jeans distress inks.  Lastly, I added the stardust stickles to the background for some stars!

I hope you enjoy my card.  Make sure to check out SugarPea Designs and all their adorable stamp sets!  I just love them.

A Lawn Fawn Valentine's Day

It's the month of LOVE and I just can't resist Lawn Fawn lately.  Their adorable images are so cute and simple for this mom of three.  I took on making my daughter's Valentine's day cards this year even with the arrival of her baby brother.  These were simple and cute.  I stamped the image from Lawn Fawn called Color My World in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and washi taped crayons to the back!  So easy and such a cute and fun idea for kindergarten aged kids.  I also included colorful Skittle packs in each goody bag.

Copic vs Shinhan Coloring

Hi ya everyone!  This is a comparison I posted on the MarkerPop Blog some time ago.  I never posted it on my blog however and thought I would today.  I used the adorable dragon from Lawn Fawn called Critters Ever After.
One dragon was colored with the Shinhan touch markers and one with my favorite Copics.  I was really skeptical about these markers when I started to be honest, mostly because I love my Copics and love the blending I can perform with them.
I chose colors that were very similar to each other from both sets and set about coloring.  There isn't much difference between how they go on.
I added my second color to both for a shadow effect and blended them.  They both blended very nice.  The Touch though seemed really juicy, almost soggy.  Not a bad thing necessarily but I'm not used to this, so if you look closely you can see a bit of bleeding.
I finished with light color and felt both looked pretty cute.  However, looking at the back of the paper you can see how much more juicy the Touch markers are.
Here are the final images...can you tell which is which?
and
In short, I think the Touch markers really surprised me.  They blend nice and are a great marker to perhaps start your coloring addiction with to see if you like coloring.  Honestly, the Copics are more comfortable as they are oval and not square, and you have so many colors to choose from.  The color chart that Copic puts out is organized in a logical way as well.  I'm trained to use Copics and not to use Shinhans so there is possibly information about them and the chart that I don't understand.  The overall blending ability and color though for both is equally brilliant and blends well.  I love how many colors Copic offers as well.

Gift Card Holders

Hi ya everyone!

In preparation for Christmas I REALLY needed to make some gift card holders and I had some that I bought from Michaels awhile ago.  They were quite ugly so I had my hubby spay paint them silver and I made little gift card holder from them!
I've shared the details on the MarkerPop blog!  Make sure to check them out if you get a chance.
